Illinois Lawyer Serving Injured Employees
When you suffer a job injury, it is essential that you understand your rights. Because your employer and their insurance company want to pay you as little as possible, consulting with a trusted workers' compensation attorney can help ensure you receive the benefits you need and deserve.
My name is Brian T. Morrow. At my office, I help injured employees in Southwest Chicago obtain the benefits that are rightfully theirs. Armed with 32 years of legal experience, I work to resolve workers' compensation matters as efficiently as possible, allowing clients like you to focus on healing.
Illinois Workers' Compensation Benefits
After being hurt on the job, you are entitled to certain benefits, aimed at helping you live as you did prior to your injury. These benefits include:
- Temporary Total Disability (TTD) — If your injury renders you temporarily unable to work, your employer must pay you two-thirds of your average weekly wage for the previous year. These weekly payments continue until you return to work.
- Medical Benefits— You have the right to seek the best medical treatment available for your injury. Your employer's insurance company must pay all your medical expenses, including office visits, surgeries, therapy and prescriptions. You are not responsible for any co-pays or deductibles. Although your employer may suggest you see a particular physician, you have the right to see any doctor you wish.
- Vocational Rehabilitation and Retraining — If you are unable to return to your previous occupation following your injury, you may be eligible to be trained for a new profession, possibly receiving weekly maintenance payments during this period.
- Permanent Disability— If your workplace injury caused specific loss to a certain body part, such your hand, arm, or finger, you may be entitled to payments based on a schedule for specific body parts.
